Merrick Rippon gave the Ottawa Midget AAA Senators a 2-1 (OT) victory over the CIHA Green Midget AAA Green when he scored eight seconds into the extra period.
Ottawa Midget AAA was sparked by Rippon, who grabbed one goal.
The Senators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow CIHA Green Midget AAA to score on any of its four power plays.
Ottawa Midget AAA also got a goal from Tyler Villeneuve as well. In addition, Ottawa Midget AAA received assists from Jean-Sylvain Boyer, Cameron Scrivens, and Noah Haymes, who each chipped in one.
The Green were led by Jacob Roberts, who scored the team’s only goal. Roberts scored 16:24 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Linden Spencer picked up the assist.
Ottawa Midget AAA’s Cedrick Andree stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ethan Hunt made 15 saves for CIHA Green Midget AAA on 17 shots. The Green incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
