Ottawa Midget AAA beats Cornwall Midget AAA 4-2 after comeback scare

The Ottawa Midget AAA Senators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Cornwall Midget AAA Colts on the way to a 4-2 win.

Ottawa Midget AAA took a 4-0 lead during the third period, only to have Cornwall Midget AAA storm back on a Hunter Duchesne goal 8:41 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Senators’ offense rang up 33 shots on the Colts’ net.

Ottawa Midget AAA was helped by Tyler Newell, who had two goals. Newell scored the first of his two goals at 8:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa Midget AAA. Jean-Sylvain Boyer assisted on the tally. Newell’s next tally made the score 4-0 Ottawa Midget AAA with 19:42 left in the third period. Griffin McGregor provided the assist. Ottawa Midget AAA also got points from Boyer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Alderic Denis also scored for Ottawa Midget AAA. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa Midget AAA were Sam Wilson, Cameron Scrivens, Merrick Rippon, Wade Brennan, and Noah Haymes, who contributed one each.

In addition, Cornwall Midget AAA received assists from Samuel Ferland, Ethan Mulhearn, and Liam MacDonald, who each chipped in one.

Nicolas Rousseau recorded 27 saves for the Senators. Ottawa Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Greg Brassard rejected 29 shots on goal for Cornwall Midget AAA. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
