Cumberland Midget AAA rips Nepean Midget AAA, 6-2

The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Nepean Midget AAA Raiders.

Cumberland Midget AAA got the win behind a great game by Roman Cannell, who had one goal and three assists. Cannell scored 12:41 into the second period to make the score 5-2 Cumberland Midget AAA. TJ Price picked up the assist.

The Grads forced Nepean Midget AAA’s goalies to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Marshall Frappier made 26 stops and Anand Oberoi made zero. Cumberland Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Raiders to score on any of their three power plays. The Grads got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Cumberland Midget AAA additionally got points from Price, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tommy Stevenson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Wil Murray, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cumberland Midget AAA included Andrew Robichaud and Alex Wall, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland Midget AAA received assists from Alex Robert, who had two and Zakary Rodrigue and Mathieu Plante, who each chipped in one.

Nepean Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Raiders were helped by Mackenzie White, who registered one goal. White scored 8:03 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cumberland Midget AAA. Ethan Rendell-Watson assisted on the tally. Nepean Midget AAA also got points from Jeremy Boucher, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Nepean Midget AAA came via Paul Larabie and Nicholas Domitrovic, who contributed one each.

Kai Edmonds rejected 20 shots on goal for Cumberland Midget AAA. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nepean Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
