OHA U18 Midget AAA holds on for 3-1 win against OHA U17 Midget AAA

The OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16 tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17 held on for a 3-1 victory.

OHA U18 Midget AAA took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have OHA U17 Midget AAA storm back on a Tanner Brown goal 17:52 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The OHA U17’s Francis Asselin was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Asselin managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.92 prior to the game.

OHA U18 Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the OHA U16 to score on any of their five power plays.

The OHA U17 were helped by Josh Kim, who grabbed one goal. Kim scored on the power play 9:27 into the third period to make the score 2-0 OHA U18 Midget AAA. OHA U18 Midget AAA had gained a power play chance when Thomas Harper was whistled for tripping. Justin Cheng assisted on the tally. OHA U18 Midget AAA additionally got points from Brad Jenion, who also registered one goal and one assist. Craig Garrigan also scored for OHA U18 Midget AAA. More assists for OHA U18 Midget AAA came via Julien Allard, who had one.

Other players who recorded assists for OHA U17 Midget AAA were Yanick Leblanc and Nikita Lopatin, who each chipped in one.

The OHA U17 incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Caseley rejected 25 shots on goal for OHA U17 Midget AAA. The OHA U16 incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
