CIHA Green Midget AAA beats OHA U18 Midget AAA 3-2 after comeback scare

The OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17 tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the CIHA Green Midget AAA Green would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Tyler Grill put CIHA Green Midget AAA up 3-1 in the second period, but OHA U18 Midget AAA pulled to within one on Heath Ford‘s tally 8:21 into the third period.

The Green were paced by Grill, who grabbed one goal. Grill scored 9:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 CIHA Green Midget AAA. Gregory Rogers picked up the assist.

CIHA Green Midget AAA additionally got points from Matthew Grouchy, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. CIHA Green Midget AAA also got a goal from Guillaume Pelchat as well. Other players who recorded assists for CIHA Green Midget AAA were Trevor Finch and Jake Jurgeneit, who contributed one each.

The OHA U17 were helped by Craig Garrigan, who registered one goal. Garrigan scored on the power play 9:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 CIHA Green Midget AAA. An interference penalty on Cameron Pound had put OHA U18 Midget AAA on the power play. Aleck Forcier provided the assist. In addition, OHA U18 Midget AAA received assists from Jon Vandermolen and Lucas Roy, who each chipped in one.

Zachary Kott recorded 13 saves for CIHA Green Midget AAA. The Green incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The OHA U17’s Francis Asselin stopped 17 shots out of the 20 that he faced. OHA U18 Midget AAA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
