Hawkesbury Midget AAA survives Nepean Midget AAA comeback, wins 4-3

The Nepean Midget AAA Raiders tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Adam Levesque put Hawkesbury Midget AAA up 4-2 in the third period, but Nepean Midget AAA pulled to within one on JJ Boucher‘s tally 19:59 into the third period.

Levesque had a great game for the Hawks, netting two goals.

Hawkesbury Midget AAA stifled the Raiders’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Hawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Hawkesbury Midget AAA averages 1.9 goal per contest. Nepean Midget AAA’s defense shut down the Hawks’ forwards for much of the game, and Hawkesbury Midget AAA got off only 13 shots during the contest.

Others who scored for Hawkesbury Midget AAA included Alex Elie and Cameron Buck, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury Midget AAA were Ryan Wells, who had two and Tyler Boivin, Mathieu Grandmont, and Nicholas Andre, who contributed one each.

The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their three power plays. Nepean Midget AAA kept Hawkesbury Midget AAA’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Morris made 31 saves on 34 shots. The Raiders got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Nepean Midget AAA also got points from Nicholas Domitrovic, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Nepean Midget AAA came via Robbie Pickard, who had two and Mackenzie White, Aidan Harris, and Kyle Kuehni, who each chipped in one.

The Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Nepean Midget AAA’s Marshall Frappier stopped nine shots out of the 13 that he faced. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
