OHA U17 Midget AAA uses early goal to top Kanata Midget AAA, 3-1

The OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16 beat the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

OHA U17 Midget AAA took over the lead for good with a goal by Dylan Coffey at 13:26 in the first period. Thomas Callaghan picked up the assist.

The OHA U16 were led by goalie Dillon Lamarche, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Lamarche will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.19.

OHA U17 Midget AAA was paced by Callaghan, who racked up one goal and one assist. Callaghan scored 3:46 into the second period to make the score 2-0 OHA U17 Midget AAA.

The OHA U16 found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against Kanata Midget AAA’s defense.

OHA U17 Midget AAA also got a goal from Curtis Egert as well. More assists for OHA U17 Midget AAA came via Robert Howatt, Tanner Brown, and Cameron Roberts, who contributed one each.

The Lasers could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Kanata Midget AAA averages 3.8 goals per game.

The Lasers were led by Luca Nocita, who scored the team’s only goal. Nocita scored on the power play 13:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 OHA U17 Midget AAA. Kanata Midget AAA had gained a power play chance when Brown was whistled for hooking. Mack Miller assisted on the tally.

OHA U17 Midget AAA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cameron Scott rejected 10 shots on goal for the Lasers. Kanata Midget AAA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
