Cumberland Midget AAA wins tough contest against Carleton Place Midget AAA, 4-3

The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Carleton Place Midget AAA Canadians.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and TJ Price‘s goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Alex Robert was all over the ice for Cumberland Midget AAA, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Robert scored 1:48 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Francois Drouin provided the assist.

The Grads could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Cumberland Midget AAA also got points from Tristan Francis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cumberland Midget AAA also got a goal from Wil Murray as well. In addition, Cumberland Midget AAA received assists from Ethan Cahill, who had one.

Carleton Place Midget AAA’s normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Canadians average 1.7 goal allowed per game.

Carleton Place Midget AAA was led by Ryland Mosley, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Mosley scored on the power play 10:39 into the third period to make the score 3-3. The Canadians had gotten the advantage when Cumberland Midget AAA’s Tommy Stevenson was sent off for cross checking. Joey Warywoda assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Carleton Place Midget AAA included Liam Markhauser and Reece Bolton, who scored one goal each. More assists for Carleton Place Midget AAA came via Ryan Bangs, who had one.

Seth Carter recorded 18 saves for the Grads. Cumberland Midget AAA registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Chris Cuglietta made 26 saves for Carleton Place Midget AAA on 30 shots. The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
