Kanata Midget AAA vanquishes Kemptville Midget AAA in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers defeated the Kemptville Midget AAA 73s in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.

Kanata Midget AAA came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Lasers fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Kemptville Midget AAA’s Jarrett Williams at 13:18 in the first period. Kanata Midget AAA knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Daniel McIntyre at 9:09 in the third period.

The Lasers were led by Adam Church, who racked up one goal. Church scored 52 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville Midget AAA. Bennett Stockdale assisted on the tally.

The 73s were unable to stop Kanata Midget AAA from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lasers eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Kanata Midget AAA additionally got points from McIntyre, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Justin Palmer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ty Gauthier also scored for Kanata Midget AAA. More assists for Kanata Midget AAA came via Cade Townend, who had one and Brian Bygrave, who had two.

Kemptville Midget AAA was led by Zach Cohen, who registered two goals and one assist. Cohen scored the first of his two goals at 11:16 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Kemptville Midget AAA. Joel Holtrop picked up the assist. Cohen’s next tally made the score 4-3 Kemptville Midget AAA with 12:29 left in the third period. Evan Durant provided the assist. Kemptville Midget AAA also got points from Durant, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville Midget AAA were Devin Saumur, who had two and Jack Walsh and Jordan Currie, who contributed one each.

Jean-Philippe Tourigny rejected 19 shots on goal for Kanata Midget AAA. The Lasers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The 73s’ Luke Cavallin stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Kemptville Midget AAA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
