Cumberland Midget AAA beats Pembroke Midget AAA 3-0 as Edmonds gains shutout

The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads used a sparkling performance by Kai Edmonds to take down the Pembroke Midget AAA Lumber Kings, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Cumberland Midget AAA’s 3-0 shutout victory.

The Grads were sparked by Tristan Francis, who had one goal. Francis scored 4:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland Midget AAA.

Cumberland Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Grads could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Cumberland Midget AAA additionally got points from Wil Murray, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Andrew Robichaud also scored for Cumberland Midget AAA.

Pembroke Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cumberland Midget AAA to score on any of its four power plays.

The Grads’ Edmonds stopped 25 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Darian McTavish recorded 25 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke Midget AAA incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
