Kanata Midget AAA completes comeback, beats OHA U18 Midget AAA, 5-4

The Kanata Midget AAA Lasers rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the OHA U18 Midget AAA OHA U17.

Kanata Midget AAA never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Lasers was down 4-2 after a goal by OHA U18 Midget AAA’s Jon Vandermolen at 14:46 in the second period. Kanata Midget AAA knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Bennett Stockdale at 12:41 in the third period. The Lasers got the game winner at 15:34 in the third period on a goal by Stockdale.

Kanata Midget AAA was led by Kyle Lefebvre, who registered one goal.

The Lasers’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four OHA U18 Midget AAA power plays. Kanata Midget AAA’s offense rang up 38 shots on the OHA U17’s net.

Kanata Midget AAA additionally got points from Nathan MacKechnie, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Stockdale, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kanata Midget AAA also had goals scored by David Silye and Mack Miller, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from Tyler Orban, Daniel McIntyre, Brian Bygrave, Cade Townend, and Ty Gauthier, who each chipped in one.

OHA U18 Midget AAA was helped by Craig Garrigan, who racked up one goal. Garrigan scored 4:28 into the second period to make the score 2-0 OHA U18 Midget AAA. Others who scored for OHA U18 Midget AAA included Josh Kim and Justin Poirier, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for OHA U18 Midget AAA were Brad Jenion, Adam Porter, and Justin Cheng, who contributed one each.

Cameron Scott made 24 saves for the Lasers on 28 shots. Kanata Midget AAA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The OHA U17’s Danick Francoeur stopped 33 shots out of the 38 that he faced. OHA U18 Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
