Cumberland Midget AAA uses early goal to top Brockville Midget AAA, 4-2

Liam Peyton gave the Cumberland Midget AAA Grads the lead in the first period, and the Brockville Midget AAA Braves was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

Cumberland Midget AAA took over the lead for good with a goal by Peyton at 3:24 in the first period. Alex Wall provided the assist.

Peyton had a great game for the Grads, netting two goals.

Brockville Midget AAA’s power play was ineffective against Cumberland Midget AAA’s penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Grads stifled the Braves’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cumberland Midget AAA also got points from Roman Cannell, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cumberland Midget AAA also got a goal from Francois Drouin as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland Midget AAA were Mathieu Plante, who had two and Adam Goodfellow and Wil Murray, who contributed one each.

Brockville Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Braves were helped by Mark Morrison, who finished with one goal. Morrison scored 9:29 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cumberland Midget AAA. Brett Lannin picked up the assist. Griffin Patterson also scored for Brockville Midget AAA.

Cumberland Midget AAA’s Seth Carter stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Grads incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kyle Herbison made 24 saves for Brockville Midget AAA on 27 shots. The Braves incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
