Matthew Grouchy was all over the ice for the CIHA Green Midget AAA Green, as he tallied two goals in CIHA Green Midget AAA’s 2-1 win over the CIHA White Midget AAA White.
Grouchy’s tallies came at 8:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 CIHA Green Midget AAA and on the power play 19:45 into the third to make the score 2-1 CIHA Green Midget AAA.
CIHA White Midget AAA was stymied by the Green’s netminder Zachary Kott, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Kott will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.74.
CIHA Green Midget AAA’s penalty kill excelled, as the Green gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.
CIHA Green Midget AAA stifled the White’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
In addition, CIHA Green Midget AAA received assists from Cameron Pound, Jacob Roberts, and Jace Lis-DAlessandro, who each chipped in one.
CIHA White Midget AAA was led by Jonathan Toope, who scored the team’s only goal. Toope scored 10:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Braeden-Jay Wynne picked up the assist.
The Green incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jacob Lavergne made 18 saves for the White on 20 shots. CIHA White Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
