Kemptville Midget AAA survives Gloucester Midget AAA comeback, wins 3-1

The Kemptville Midget AAA 73s, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers and clinched a 3-1 victory.

Kemptville Midget AAA led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the 73s’ John Beaton scored at 14:51 in the first period to put Kemptville Midget AAA up 3-0.

The 73s were led by goalie Nick Bond, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Bond certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.0 entering the contest.

Kemptville Midget AAA was led by Ryan Pawlikowski, who had one goal. Pawlikowski scored 12:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kemptville Midget AAA. Alex Kerlovich assisted on the tally.

The 73s managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Kemptville Midget AAA ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game.

Kemptville Midget AAA also got a goal from Jarrett Williams as well. In addition, Kemptville Midget AAA received assists from Jack York and Joel Holtrop, who contributed one each.

Gloucester Midget AAA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the 73s to score on any of their five power plays.

The Rangers were led by Ty Morelli, who scored the team’s only goal. Morelli scored 8:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kemptville Midget AAA. Adam Johnston picked up the assist.

Gloucester Midget AAA’s Jean-Sebastien Gratton stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
