Kanata Midget AAA wins tough contest against Cornwall Midget AAA, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Cornwall Midget AAA Colts.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Bennett Stockdale at 13:35 of the second period.

Kanata Midget AAA was led by Stockdale, who tallied one goal.

The Lasers stifled Cornwall Midget AAA’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kanata Midget AAA forced the Colts goalie Greg Brassard to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Kanata Midget AAA also got points from Daniel McIntyre, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Kanata Midget AAA included Tyler Orban and Felix Tourigny, who scored one goal each. More assists for Kanata Midget AAA came via David Silye, Brian Bygrave, Cade Townend, and Andrew MacKinnon, who each chipped in one.

Cornwall Midget AAA managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Colts finished below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. Cornwall Midget AAA found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against the Lasers’ defense.

The Colts were helped by Ethan Mulhearn, who registered one goal. Mulhearn scored 19 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall Midget AAA. Samuel Ferland assisted on the tally. Joseph Samson also scored for Cornwall Midget AAA. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall Midget AAA were Jonah Peters and Benjamin Dirven, who contributed one each.

Kanata Midget AAA’s Jean-Philippe Tourigny stopped 12 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Lasers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brassard rejected 34 shots on goal for Cornwall Midget AAA. The Colts registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
