The Hawkesbury Midget AAA Hawks’ Mathieu Grandmont scored 2:11 into overtime to beat the Pembroke Midget AAA Lumber Kings, 3-2 (OT).
Grandmont was all over the ice for Hawkesbury Midget AAA, as he registered two goals in the win.
Cameron Buck also scored for Hawkesbury Midget AAA. More assists for Hawkesbury Midget AAA came via Martin Lavigne and Luke Paquette, who each chipped in two.
Pembroke Midget AAA found itself short handed often, totaling 16 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.
The Lumber Kings were led by Will Searle, who tallied one goal and one assist. Searle scored 4:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke Midget AAA. Jared Campitelli picked up the assist. Pembroke Midget AAA also got a goal from Andre Simard as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke Midget AAA were Jackson Norlock, who had one.
The Hawks’ Alex Labreche stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Hawkesbury Midget AAA incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Darian McTavish recorded 20 saves for Pembroke Midget AAA. The Lumber Kings registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
