Gloucester Midget AAA beats OHA U17 Midget AAA 4-2 after comeback scare

The OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16 tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Gloucester Midget AAA Rangers held on for a 4-2 victory.

Gloucester Midget AAA made the score 4-0 on a goal by Adam Johnston at 10:34 in the second period, and OHA U17 Midget AAA got as close as 4-2 when Curtis Egert scored 10:17 into the third period.

The Rangers were helped by Harry Sanders, who racked up one goal. Sanders scored on the power play 2:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester Midget AAA. Gloucester Midget AAA had taken the advantage when the OHA U16’s Tanner Brown got sent off for tripping. Greg Love provided the assist. Gloucester Midget AAA also got points from Ty Morelli, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sam Paquette also scored for Gloucester Midget AAA. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester Midget AAA were Samuel Labre, Erik Ross, Jacob Leguerrier, Connor Noonan, and Matt Mullin, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers’ defense shut down OHA U17 Midget AAA’s forwards for much of the game, and the OHA U16 got off only 12 shots during the contest. OHA U17 Midget AAA found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

OHA U17 Midget AAA also got a goal from Nikita Lopatin as well. In addition, OHA U17 Midget AAA received assists from Tod Philibert, Thomas Harper, and Sebastien Pugin, who contributed one each.

Brent Pledge-Dickson recorded 10 saves for Gloucester Midget AAA. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Caseley made 18 saves for the OHA U16 on 22 shots. OHA U17 Midget AAA registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
