The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads and the CIHA White Midget AAA White were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cumberland Midget AAA made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.
The Grads gained the winning advantage on a goal by Francois Drouin 2:29 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.
Cumberland Midget AAA was sparked by Drouin, who grabbed one goal and one assist.
The Grads stifled CIHA White Midget AAA’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cumberland Midget AAA kept the White’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Olivier Pimpare-Charbonneau made 35 saves on 40 shots.
Cumberland Midget AAA also got points from Roman Cannell, who also registered one goal and one assist and Liam Peyton, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Cumberland Midget AAA included Zakary Rodrigue and Alex Wall, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland Midget AAA received assists from Daniel Mellon, Alex Robert, and Wil Murray, who each chipped in one.
CIHA White Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Grads were unable to stop the White from sending pucks towards the net, and CIHA White Midget AAA eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.
The White were helped by Seva Losev, who had one goal. Losev scored 31 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 CIHA White Midget AAA. CIHA White Midget AAA also had goals scored by Marcus Odermatt and Jared Weber, who scored one goal each. More assists for CIHA White Midget AAA came via Braeden-Jay Wynne, who had one.
Seth Carter recorded 32 saves for Cumberland Midget AAA. The Grads incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. CIHA White Midget AAA incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
