Pickard’s goals lift Nepean Midget AAA to 2-1 victory over Ottawa Midget AAA

The Nepean Midget AAA Raiders relied on the scoring touch of Robbie Pickard, who netted two goals, to beat the Ottawa Midget AAA Senators, 2-1.

Pickard’s tallies came on the power play at 5:55 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Nepean Midget AAA and on the power play 18:10 into the third to make the score 2-1 Nepean Midget AAA.

Nepean Midget AAA excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Raiders kept Ottawa Midget AAA’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Cedrick Andree made 31 saves on 33 shots. Team’s forwards weren’t the only contributers offensively, and the team’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Other players who recorded assists for Nepean Midget AAA were Paul Larabie, who had two and Jeremy Boucher and Matt Arial, who contributed one each.

The Senators were led by Marcus Stepto, who scored the team’s only goal. Stepto scored 10:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Newell provided the assist.

Anand Oberoi rejected 17 shots on goal for Nepean Midget AAA. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ottawa Midget AAA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
