Ottawa Midget AAA holds on for 3-2 win against Kanata Midget AAA

The Ottawa Midget AAA Senators survived a determined comeback attempt by the Kanata Midget AAA Lasers on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Noah Haymes put Ottawa Midget AAA up 3-1 in the third period, but Kanata Midget AAA pulled to within one on Luca Nocita‘s tally 10:26 into the third period.

The Senators were led by Haymes, who racked up one goal. Haymes scored on the power play 8:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa Midget AAA. Ottawa Midget AAA had gained a power play chance when Adam Church was whistled for head contact. Marcus Stepto picked up the assist.

Ottawa Midget AAA also had goals scored by Merrick Rippon and Tyler Newell, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa Midget AAA were Daniel Lambert, Griffin McGregor, Cameron Scrivens, and Tyler Villeneuve, who contributed one each.

The Lasers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Kanata Midget AAA averages 4.3 goals per game. The Lasers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Kanata Midget AAA was helped by Bennett Stockdale, who registered one goal. Stockdale scored on the power play 10:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Lasers had gotten the advantage when the Senators’ Jean-Sylvain Boyer was sent off for hooking. Cade Townend assisted on the tally. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from David Silye, who had one.

Ottawa Midget AAA’s starting goalie, Nicolas Rousseau, made 21 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Cedrick Andree, who stopped three shots. The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jean-Philippe Tourigny rejected 20 shots on goal for Kanata Midget AAA. The Lasers registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
