Kanata Midget AAA uses big second period to beat Smiths Falls Midget AAA, 6-1

The Kanata Midget AAA Lasers scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Smiths Falls Midget AAA Bears and clinch a 6-1 win.

Mack Miller had two goals to lead Kanata Midget AAA to victory. Miller scored on the power play at 6:38 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kanata Midget AAA and again while 9:03 into the third to make the score 5-1 Kanata Midget AAA.

The Lasers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Smiths Falls Midget AAA to score on any of its three power plays. The Bears were unable to stop Kanata Midget AAA from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lasers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Kanata Midget AAA also got points from Bennett Stockdale, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kanata Midget AAA included Daniel McIntyre, Brian Bygrave, and Cade Townend, who each put in one. In addition, Kanata Midget AAA received assists from Adam Church, who had two and David Silye, Luca Nocita, Kyle Lefebvre, and Andrew MacKinnon, who contributed one each.

Smiths Falls Midget AAA’s normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Bears give up 2.0 goals per game.

Cameron Scott made 14 saves for Kanata Midget AAA on 15 shots. The Lasers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Kyle Renaud recorded 26 saves for Smiths Falls Midget AAA. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
