The Cumberland Midget AAA Grads pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the OHA U17 Midget AAA OHA U16 on a clutch goal by Liam Peyton.
Cumberland Midget AAA forced OHA U16’s goalies to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Dillon Lamarche made 19 stops and Tyler Caseley made eight.
Cumberland Midget AAA also had goals scored by Tommy Stevenson, Roman Cannell, and Francois Drouin, who each put in one. More assists for Cumberland Midget AAA came via Andrew Robichaud, Tristan Francis, Zakary Rodrigue, Noah Johnston, and Alex Robert, who contributed one each.
OHA U17 Midget AAA was led by Tod Philibert, who registered one goal and two assists. Philibert scored on the power play 5:00 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A roughing penalty on Cannell had put the OHA U16 on the power play. Nikita Lopatin provided the assist. OHA U17 Midget AAA also got points from Lopatin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Robert Howatt also scored for OHA U17 Midget AAA. In addition, OHA U17 Midget AAA received assists from Matthew Briggs, who had one.
Seth Carter made 15 saves for the Grads on 18 shots. Cumberland Midget AAA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. OHA U17 Midget AAA incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
